| LIFESTYLE The Amida House in France is set in a rural location in a region of rolling countryside between the rivers Allier and Cher. The buildings were formerly a small farm. There is thirty acres (16 hectare) of land. Amida France is where Amida members meet for their summer retreat (varsika). Members of the wider Amida community and all who are interested in the Buddhist way of life are welcome. Amida is a place of peace, mindfulness, celebration and practice. We live simply and close to the earth and the seasons. Mostly, we eat out of doors, weather permitting. Sometimes we sleep under the stars. Nature is all around us. Coming here is a good way of getting the feel of the Buddhist way of life in an away from it all environment. Our approach embraces broad Buddhist principles and practice. We welcome anyone wishing to enjoy and participate in the lifestyle, whether or not they identify themselves as Buddhist. We enjoy leisure time together either at the centre or going out to visit the surrounding countryside, medieval villages, forests and rivers. Amida is the perfect place for artists of all kinds, especially in August. | ![]() |
