The Road to Sancoins

by Prasada Caroline Brazier

Chasing cloud shadows
Along the road to Sancoins
Sunshine comes and goes
And on the forest beyond
See, random patches of light

Shimmering sunlight
Tip-toes across the canal
On deep green water
Shatters the surface into
A million tiny mirrors

Across the silence
The church bell in the village
Insists this moment
Spire aspiring to the sky
Taut blue above the tree-line
