Letters from the Editors - Dharmavidya passes the torch.

Dear Friends,

When we started Running Tide in the summer of 2003 it was an attempt to expand and build upon the occasional newsletters that we had previously issued under the heading Amida News. We could see that there was scope for something closer to an in house magazine in the Amida World. Now, ten issues later, we are feeling very happy with the decision. The life of the Amida communion has continued to develop and diversify and all that has happened has been reflected in the pages of  Running Tide. Amida-Shu has come into existence. The Amida Order has continued to grow. Projects overseas has consolidated. Chaplaincy is the UK has gone through a great leap forward. The Buddhist House community has also grown and matured. So the tide is running. Now I am very pleased to be handing over to Venerable Susthama who, I'm sure you'll agree, has done a super job on this current issue. Gareth Thompson will be assisting with reportage and technical support, and members of the Amida Commitment Team will assist with distribution. I hope that you, the read, will also get involved  both in the magazine and in the life of the Amida big family.

Dear All,

Do you hear the sound of the Running Tide? Sometimes it comes crashing in against the rocks and sometimes it comes in very slowly and softly on a sandy beach. The quality of the sounds, the intensity of the spirit and everything else about the Running Tide will differ depending on ambient conditions. As Amida grows and expands the individuals whose lives are touched by Amida's light also grow and so we are constantly witnessing changes as the sands beneath us shift.
It is a great pleasure and joy to be Amida's hands and feet in putting this Issue of Running Tide together. I feel like one of the bits of driftwood dragged onto shore with many other bits from the vast ocean and together with all the other bits we have made up The Running Tide. I look forward to more stories and news from you.
